Hello.

We have the same problems : When a pdf document is printed,
some of the characters are replaced by the next character in the alphabet.

The pdf documents are generated by FOP, via a JDK 1.5.0_06 application.

In our application, there are 2 ways to print a pdf document :
- the document is opened in Acrobat Reader 7.0.8, and the user choose the "Print" menu item
- the document can be silently printed via the java program, using a command line like "AcroRd32.exe /p doc.pdf [...]".

In both cases, some documents are randomly printed with invalid characters.

Notes :
- the problem is quite hard to reproduce : if you re-open the same file and print it again, or relaunch the same editing process,
  there is no problem !

- the bug occurs when using PCL laser printers (mostly HP printers)
  and Inkjet printers.
When using PostScript driver, it's ok.
(but we don't want to use PS drivers, it's slower and increase memory usage on the printer)

- in the previous version of our application,
the silent printing system used AWT instead of Acrobat Reader,
at that time, there was no problem.

- our pdf documents do not use embedded fonts.
