How do I choose the order of inserted sheets in Acrobat

Their seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order in which pages come into the document. I often have 20 .PDFs or .tif images and I want to combine them all so I only have to push print once. I will open one and then insert the rest of the images or PDFs into the first document. However, it doesn't seem to matter if I select Add after, before or after page, they never go in in order. I organize the files I want to add by name and then select them from the lowest number to the highest and it usually brings them in from highest to lowest. How does Acrobat decide what order to place inserted sheets in my document?
