I am having difficulty with this also. My contract programmer uses Acrobat Reader 6.0. I use Acrobat Standard 7.0. He is able to put into his browser the following URL: file:///C:/rug/d_dt120.pdf#page=4 and he tells me it opens up to page 4. When i use that URL, it only opens to page 1. My understanding is that this functionality only works when the acrobat document is on a web server, not a local drive. This is according to <http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/317300.html> However, it does seem bad that for Adobe to have some functionality lost from version 6.0 to 7.0. Any ideas?
