I'm another user experiencing theeeee Error 1406 problem. Removing all versions of Adobe Reader, as stated in the instructions actually caused more problems. I had to go back to Version 6.0, upgrade to Version 6.0.2, then upgrade to Version 7. I can't install Version 7.0.9 because the Error 1406 occurs (with a different key issue than occurs when installing Version 8). Adobe, you have made a mess of things! The problem is yours, and yours alone, and you should fix it. jerry
