Thanks so much for posting. Your solution did resolve our problem too. The snapshots that I took of the errors you describe in your posting are exactly the same as the two errors that I had on multiple machines. All of the errors were on XP SP2 machines, but only a few, not all XP SP2 machines displayed this problem.
Error 1406. Could not write value to /Software/Classes/.pdf/PersistentHandler. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel.
Options to Abort Retry or Ignore are available.

I am curious to know why this is happening on a few machines (for which I am thankful)and not all machines. Have not seen any pattern yet. If I see any pattern, I will repost to this thread.
Anyone from Adobe have any ideas?
