I am seeing a small pattern with those workstations that have no write access to the two registry keys mentioned earlier in this thread. One machine without write permissions had the full version of Adobe Acrobat V 7 and the Reader was V 7.0.9. I had another machine which just had the Reader V 7.0.9 installed and neither registry key had write access (Everyone - Read only).

The last upgrade we ran on all of our workstations was Acrobat Reader V 7.0.5, so most of our workstations have this version of the reader installed and the upgrade works fine.

My guess at this point, is that those people who are administrators on their workstations have upgraded manually and so far I have just seen 7.0.9 installed and installation of this version seems to lock down those 2 registry keys.

As mentioned earlier, the fix is to change the owner to the local administrator of the workstation on the key above the key with no permissions, then change the permissions on the child or subkey to give the local administrators group full control. I believe that Adobe engineers did something to this version to lock down the registry keys, making a smooth upgrade to V 8.0 not possible.

Anyone from Adobe care to jump in here?
