The Dell support forum addresses this problem. Here is the thread and the suggested fix. I haven't tried it yet, because if it fails, I have to go back and install 7.0 for the third time. Anybody want to try it and let us know?

"Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 8 will not install. I have tried it several times and had had no success. I keep getting an error mesaage that states that the installation has been interrupted and that I must run setup again. I don't have any programs running while the installation is taking place, including spyware or antivirus software, so I'm not sure what the interruption is exactly.

What I've already tried:
 - I've tried deleting the adobe files on the C: drive and rebooting, but this has not helped either. I'm at a loss.
 - I've also tried installing an earlier version of the software, still a no-go.

What can I do?

Go to control panel/add-remove programs and uninstall any instances or Adobe reader, starting with the highest version first.

Then go here <http://www.softwarepatch.com/graphics/acrobatreader7.html> and download the Full stand alone installer to your hard drive, then execute the installer from there.

If you have Anti virus, and or firewall software installed, disable it temporarily while installing AR8
