Thank you Ben..THANK YOU! You have ended my two weeks of frustration. I had not heard of Windows Install Cleanup utility, so went to GOOGLE to see where that was at. Found it, downloaded it and it showed Adobe, so I deleted it and Adobe Photoshop and something called library PDF. It shows up gone in that list. However, Adobe 7 still shows up in a folder in my program downloads. I haven't looked to see what is in there; whatever it is will just have to stay there as long as it doesn't cause any trouble. Adobe 7 doesn't show up in the Add Remove in the Control Panel list. Went to Adobe and redownloaded a new Adobe 8 and lo and behold, the computer installed it. Happy dance time. But the proof of the pudding wasn't proven yet. So went to my bank and clicked on the PDF bank statement for this month and IT OPENED!! YEAH. I really appreciate the time you spent with me on this. You are a genius!. I have saved your emails about the registry. I have been in there before and changed something a couple years ago. But it was a matter of only changing some number. I do not really understand though. If I change something in the registry, can't I just reboot and start in a Safe mode and do a system restore. Or does and error in the registry, make the reboot not start? Thank you again, the cleanup sites you gave me are good and the Windows Clean up utility is really good to have.
