Adobe Reader 8.0 Installation Hanging on Vista

I'm trying to install Adobe Reader. I downloaded , but it hangs every time.

Any time I retry, I get an error message from Netopsystems Size Optimizer 1.0 saying "Another instance of this program is already running..."

I can kill the process and try again, but it fails consistently.

I've tried launching this from an elevated IE, and I've tried downloading AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe and running it from an elevated command window. I also tried running with the -nos_ne flag to extract the MSI. Each time, it hangs.

Suggestions?
