This is different to the topic Reader 8 crashes when using text search. The pdf and index catalog were created using Windows Acrobat 5. OS - windows xp professional Version 2002 SP2 Dell computer - Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40Hz 3.339 GHz RAM - 2 GB 1. We have a Search button in the pdf which has the link to the Search functionality, created using the following procedure: use the Link tool to draw a box over the SEARCH button when the Link Properties dialog box appears, set as follows Type: Invisible Rectangle Highlight: None Action Type: Execute Menu Item Click on the Edit Menu Item button and then select Edit > Search > Query Select OK Select Set Link 2. The Search button functionality works fine with Reader 5 - 7. 3. The standard Search function Edit > Search works fine in Reader 8.
