Did I unistall something I shouldn't have?

I'm not computer savvy. I just installed Adobe 8. Then I UNinstalled Adobe 5 and something called 2.0. Now when I click Adobe8 I get a grey screen. Did I do something I shouldn't have?

I also still have something called "Flash Player" - what does that do actually?

Sorry to be so dumb, but I want to be able to read things when I need all this stuff. Adrienne
