You really need to do a complete uninstall of everything Reader. This includes the folders and Registry entries. I am assuming you have Win XP w/SP2. In addition I am assuming that this is a stand alone machine. There are many messages about this problem and several solutions. One is to use the Windows Cleanup Utility. Mine may be more difficult, but works for many.

WARNING: You are solely responsible for editing the Registry! Make a backup of it and also Create a Restore Point for the machine.

I will suggest that you use a combination of free and commercial utilities along with manual removal after using Windows XP Add/Remove Programs utility. Be very careful when working with the Registry-all you want to delete are references to Adobe Reader. The FREE utilities include Crap Cleaner and the commercial include Ashampoo's WinOptimizer3(it has a free trial-fully functional).

This is how I did it and it works. Just remember my WARNING!
