We have an intranet application that uses many different forms. This system has been in place for quite a while and has worked fine, until users started downloading Acrobat version 7 and now version 8. I am using version 8 and have done some investigation and here is what I found:

Our system is set up so that a customers information is passed to a PDF form when it is selected from a list and the customers information is populated on the web page. When I click it gives me the open, save, cancel options. I tried open and all I see is a blank screen for Acrobat 8. Next I tried saving the file to my desktop and it saved it as an fdf file as it should have. Upon opening the file I could see all the data there. So I began investigating further.

There is a variable in the file <</FDF<</F(http://eforms/forms/E801.pdf)/Fields 2 0 R>>>> and indeed the file I am looking for is located at http://eforms/forms/E801.pdf on our intranet. In the preference settings for version 8 I have added both http://eforms and http://eforms/forms/ as trusted sites and see both of them in the list. However the forms will not open. If I move a copy of the file to my desktop and alter the line in the file to <</FDF<</F(E801.pdf)/Fields 2 0 R>>>>, it opens fine and the fields are populated as expected. I tried creating a share and using a network path (\\server01\forms\E801.pdf), however that did not work either. If I create a mapped drive (M:\forms\E801.pdf) to the server location that opens correctly and populates the fields. However it would be too much effort to reconfigure everyones PC for this option and it is not really something we would want to do. Is there something we can do to get the http option to work the same way it did in version 6?
