Please quit the Adobe Download Manager before contiuing with this installation

I get the above mesage with Adobe Download Manager Setup in the header.
I'm sure I have removed all references to previous versions then shutdown and rebooted. Have also tried to find and removed any hidden files or folders.
Sure I'm not the first to get this message.
Using Windows XP
