I just opened a .pdf file and Adobe reader wanted to update itself. So I figured, "Why not?". During the installation of the update it asked me to insert the Adobe Reader 6.0.1 disk or point it to the .msi. I figured it was a fluke and downloaded the latest version stand-alone installer. It does the same thing. I believe the last version I was running (successfully) wan 7.0.8. Why does it want to downgrade to an older version to improve itself? I am leaving the installer up and running pending a response. On a personal note, I have been having nothing but problems with Adobe Reader in general on several systems using almost any version past 5 or 6 and am close to giving up and running with GhostScript/GSView exclusively as I don't make .pdfs, I just need to read them.
