Anne: I did not know about 7.0.9 so never worked with it. I went directly to Reader 8 from 7.0.8. If you go ahead and use the Add/Remove feature, this should take out the bulk of ALL of the old version(s) files. Then you can manually remove the Adobe Acrobat and Reader folders. Then try a fresh download and install of Reader 8.
