Adobe Reader vulnerability advisory APSA07-01

Our IT department alerted us about this advisory today. I have two related questions, which I hope someone can answer:

(1) We use, till now, Acrobat Professional 6 (our current version is 6.0.5). From the text of the above advisory, it does not appear that this product - perhaps being older - is affected by the vulnerability mentioned in the advisory. Is that correct?

(2) What happens if we download and install the Adobe Reader 8, to run along with the existing Acrobat Professional 6 that we have? Is it possible to use the Reader 8 to read and print PDFs, while simultaneously retaining the PDF creation and editing functionality of Acrobat 6?

I hope someone would oblige me with the answers to these two questions.

Thanks in advance.
