I have found a workaround to this problem. When the installation stops with the error that the temp directory is inaccessable, do not close the window or end the installation. Instead, use explorer to navigate to the following directory:

C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\LocalLow\Netopsystems\temp

and copy the folder "Adobe Reader 8.0" to another location on your hard disk (like c:\). You can then finish the installation (this will remove the folder from the "...\Netopsystems\temp" directory). You can then run the setup.exe program from the copied folder and reader will install. Once it is installed, you can delete the copied directory.

Please note that the "AppData" folder is a hidden folder. You must "Show hidden folders" in order to see it in explorer.

Hope this helps.
