Has anyone been able to recieve a link from Adobe for the redistributable version of Adobe Reader 9.1? Since the updated public version to address the security flaw was posted a day or so ago, I figured the same would be true for 9.1 redistributable. Unfortunately, the link provided in the approval Email from Adobe today (2009.03.11) is pointed to the 9.0 (insecure) version. A call to Adobe customer service proved to be a waste of time because they know nowing of the 9.1 version. They recommended to just keep trying each day. Adobe is beginning to sounds a lot like Microsoft. ~shudders @ the thought~ Thanks! Michael

I got the same message, but I have an old link from them, which does NOT include the "don't post this link" disclaimer, so I'll post it! <http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/>

On another note, it appears you can now download the redistributable straight from the Adobe site. Just say "Download latest version". The link from there is: <http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.1/enu/AdbeRdr910_en_US_Std.exe> And then extract the files using the command line options as listed in the 'Deploying Reader 9' pdf at <http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/deploying_reader9.pdf> ex: c:\Foo>AdbeRdr910_en_US_Std.exe -nos_ne -nos_o"Acrobat" -Brett

Thanks, Brett. I will use that one for testing until I get the appropriate link from Adobe to distribute. Working for the government, I have to be careful about license issues. Michael

Welcome, Also, if you don't want to use the Adobe Online stuff, there is another thread in this forum with a link to the Adobe FTP version that comes without all of that. I say this because using the link I gave, even if you use the Customization Wizard to disable all online features, they still install and work fine anyway (multiple people have reported this issue here). The version from the FTP doesn't include any of it at all, so no worries then.

You can use the customization wizard's direct editor to remove the custom action that initiates the Airinstaller as well.

Thank you both. I already have a script in place to care for all of the "extras" that are packaged with the installer. I had to do that because some "system coordinators" felt they had to install the public version which installs everything by default. Michael

I'm using the Customization Wizard to create an mst to push out the new 9.1. The check box for "Remove previous versions of Acrobat" is grayed out and checked. I have a few users who have both Reader and Acrobat. I don't want the Reader upgrade to touch Acrobat. Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks.

While this post should be on a new thread, it has been my experience that the Adobe Reader 9.x installations do not touch Acrobat (any version) except to make itself (Reader) the default program to open/view PDF files (if you so choose). I am familiar the greyed out box you refer to but it seems to be misleading in its context. I hope this helps. Michael

Quick question about those FTP Files... has Adobe reversed the file naming/contents logic? STD vs non-STD
In the earlier 9.0 file area, the STD file is much *smaller* then the non-STD file. I used the STF file to build my local installer because this one didn't did include any of the AIR stuff.
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/
Now, In the new 9.1 file area, the STD file is much *larger* then the non-STD file.
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.1/enu/
Looks reversed to me.... anyone know if we should be using the 9.1 non-STD file if we don't want AIR?

It's obvious that the naming has been reversed; maybe Adobe thinks that the STD version should contain AIR and Acrobat.com...?
