My mind seizes trying to read applescript. It comes up full stop trying to read basic! I'd get around to some scripting so will post two pieces from applescript. Perhaps you're more bilingual than me.
set myDocument to make document
tell myDocument
tell spread 1 to make text frame with properties {geometric bounds:{".25i", ".25i", "10.5i", "8i"}}
and
set origPageWidth to page width of document preferences
set properties of document preferences to {page width:origPageWidth * 2, page orientation:landscape}
don't know if that helps
