(Try searching > the help for "bookmark" -- it's most unhelpful.) But making TOC > entries and marking them for export does not create bookmarks in a PDF > file from "Export..." using PDF. With the help of a friend, I've found one answer to this problem, but I hope it's not the only one: InDesign exports PDF bookmarks for TOC styles if and *only* if the TOC is visible in the exported PDF file. If the TOC story is not on a page you export, you get no bookmarks. If it's hidden or in a hidden layer, you get no bookmarks. If only part of the TOC is visible, you only get bookmarks for the items that are visible. This is really not the best way of doing it -- I need bookmarks but don't want a visible TOC in the document. Right now, my only choice is to put a TOC on the last page, make the PDF, then rip the last page out in Acrobat and re-save the file. That generates and preserves bookmarks, but I pray there's a better way. --Matt
