Scripting autoflow in XML import?

I'm importing an XML file into an InDesign template that maps the XML tags to corresponding style sheets. I am using this command in AppleScript: "import XML from alias xml_file".

All of the XML comes in fine, but autoflowing (i.e., automatic creation of additional pages in the thread to accommodate all the text) doesn't occur. I have to manually add pages to get all the text in.

However, if I start with say a hundred blank pages that have been linked together previously, all the text flows in fine.

Is there a way to script this process so I don't have to start with all the extra pages in my template or add them by hand after the importing is completed?

Thanks!
