Hi Susan

I always use the en rule for number spans and in phrases like "the Paris-London railway" (except in e-mail and postings!). I also use the en rule (spaced) as a dash. For a minus sign, there is one at alt0173 (in Windows) in both the standard and small caps sets, though I think many apps substitute the hyphen for this slot and reserve it for other uses. (At least, that seems to be what's happening when I select it.) I don't think there's an expert set for Goudy Old Style, but if there is, it should have a three-quarter em dash (alt061) and a figure dash (alt0178). If you have FontLab or Fontographer (or even the freeware Noah), you could move the small caps minus sign to an acessible position.

Cheers, Dominic
