Dominic: For a thoroughly readable explanation of 42 vs. 43 line bibles, I recommend the book "Gutenberg". You can find a review of it here: http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/0523/p21s01-bogn.html <http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/0523/p21s01-bogn.html> I just read the book and thought it was excellent. Note that it is a biography of the man/invention/historical period and has very little content directly related to typography the way it is discussed in this forum.
