Sa maîtresse Marguerite de Bonnemains (nom prédestiné, pour une
maîtresse !)
venait de mourir. L'acte est irrationnel si on tient compte des
objectifs politiques que Boulanger était encore en mesure d'atteindre
(grâce à son énorme popularité) ; mais rationnel si on suppose que
l'objectif "vivre hereux avec Marguerite" était pour lui plus
précieux que toute ambition politique.
