Have you actually looked to see if wu-ftpd is installed on your linux
box?

do something like $rpm -q wuftpd

(i forget the package name for wuftpd, so maybe look in gnorpm!!!)

it may be that ftp is simply not installed, if not, grab your linux cd
and issue:

# rpm -ivh wuftpd-blah-1.5.i386.rpm

or something.
