Alright if you are going to go out and try Linux, and want the easy yet sure way of getting it installed without damaging your existing win system. I would say go out and get either Corel Linux 1.1 or get WinLinux, which will allow you to install it through windows. You could get the download version of Corel Linux 1.1 free from corel at linux.corel.com OK, now concerning ease of use. Corel is making huge strives in getting Linux more user friendly. And it is to an extent. However, please note that if you decide to install linux, please keep in mind that linux is basically unix, which is not at all meant to be user friendly. While using corel, There is a minimal amount of configuration before you can get linux to boot into X windows. To close let me tell you this, Linux is a robust, powerful, and performance based OS. It is not intended to be 100 % user friendly as other alternative Operating systems. However, because of this it is extremely reliable, and will pretty much never crash. So if you ask me if i should stick with the alternatives or go on to Linux, then i would tell you to ask yourself how much do you like to see the same old perthetic interface, and how often can you bare to see blue screens. Plus hey its free. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Original Message <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< On 3/27/00, 12:39:19 PM, "Stephen Carlisle" <Stephen.Carlisle@btinternet.com> wrote regarding Some questions on Linux????: > I have some questions on Linux, its growing popularity and on the > recommendation of friends has made me think about giving it a go.
