I believe the easiest way to do this is to use DR-DOS 7.xx which comes with a NetWare Lite client. It is (was) free for individuals though licenses for commercial use were available. I don't see it on Caldera's website anymore, though, so you may have to contact them for more info. Their Linux distro comes with proprietary NetWare client software and a server is/was available for it. Their latest is OpenLinux 2.3. Windows 9x ships with the tools to connect peer-to-peer with NetWare networks. Should work. On DR-DOS: this is what Microsoft tacitly admitted to killing with monopoly power by settling the lawsuit with Caldera (inheritor of DR-DOS through Novell) for "more than" $155 million US. I still use it; it allows multi-taking (of a primitive sort,) has great memory for games, sees Win9x long filenames, uses DPMI memory, can dual-boot with Win and reads partitions bigger than 2 GB. The world would have been a different place had Microsoft not strangled this baby in the cradle. Linus is credited with saying, "If Microsoft had made a decent DOS, I never would have had to invent Linux;" I'm truly sorry he wasn't introduced to DR-DOS -- especially if you add the 4dos shell. But Linux is better still, so maybe it worked out for the best.
