3 Recommendations: All 3 come from personal experience. Get and read a copy of "Linux for Dummies", "Teach Yourself Linux in 24 Hours" (Both come with CDs with full copies of Linux), write down everything you can about your system before you start (I/o addresses, IRQs, DMAs, and make, model and manufacturer of all of your cards) and try to find someone that has already installed it so you can have them help you out if you run into trouble. I don't believe in flaming those that are willing to learn, so if you have more questions, feel free to email me. Good luck.
