Is it possible to settup linux under a windows environment on the same
machine without formatting.

I have an extra 2.5 gigabytes on D drive. I do not know the fundamentals of
linux at this stage, but I do wish to learn linux. I nearly underastand the
full implications of the windows environment, but who really can understand
windows fully. I wish to learn linux.

Without undoing all the hard work I have put into this terminal, is there a
way of setting linux up without stuffing around with C: drive?

I mainly use the windows environment for video manipulation, graphic
animations and similar stuff. I have been using wingate for a good period of
time now, and have found some limitations on the client machine. I have read
some of the linux networking capabilities and I think that would be a better
environment to be under.

I know I will be getting a few awful remarks about living under a windows
environment, as this is the response I have always had from linux users. I
have played with linux and had it pretty well understandable, but 2 things
restricted me from running fully under linux. The first was the network card
would not settup, and 2nd I could not a browser to work. But these are only
limitations of the learning process, I understand.

So I would really appreciate a civilised answer, so that I could have a
easier way of setting up linux on a separate drive on this computer so I can
still do the things that I need to do, and at the same time learn more about
linux.

Much appreciated
