XF86Setup problem

Hello

I had faced a problem that I hardly can solve until now.
When I freshly install Caldera OpenLinux 1.3 or Red Hat Linux 5.2 and run
the XF86Setup and press enter the screen just display a white box and doing
nothing so I press CTRL+ALT+F1 and it say

The program is running on a different virtual terminal
Please switch to the correct virtual terminal

What is the problem? What is that mean?
I am very confused

I will be very thankful if anyone can help me.
