I have beem here hefore. Two things that come to mind:

A) Your message states " I typed rpm -i in terminal "
Is taht all you typed. That command must be followed by the path to the
rpm file on your CD-ROM, i.e. /RPMS/KDE/kde.rpm ( not actual path, just
an example) This leads me to question 2

B) Is your cdrom mounted? It doesn't happen automatically like in WINDOWS,
when you boot into Linux, the cdrom must be " mounted", to be read.
This can be done with the following steps;

( % = command prompt)

%cd /mnt
%ls

if you dont see an entry here that says cdrom, then

%mkdir cdrom

do another ls just to be sure the directory is now there

ok, now issue this command

% mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

This command mounts the filesystem from the cdrom harware into the
directory you created, namely /mnt/cdrom

I think redhat 6.0 saves you the first step and creates the dir /mnt/cdrom
upon install.

now, you can navigate to the cdrom and look for RPM's

%cd /mnt/cdrom
%ls

YOU SHOULD SEE directory lists
IF ALL went ok

Good luck and don't give up. Linux is good, but not so " point and click
here you idiot" as some other OS's are (wink)
