Unless you have a very fast internet connection (T1, ADSL, etc), it'll take quite a long time to download a copy. It might be easier to buy a copy from someplace like: www.cheapbytes.com www.linuxmall.com You can order a variety of different distributions (brands) for $1.89 each. These are also the most recent versions. In stores, Caldera 2.3 would cost you $35 and Red Hat could cost as much as $80. At both of the links above you can get either distro and several others for less than $2 each. I haven't dealt with cheapbytes but I ordered a "SixPack" from Linuxmall last week (11/10/99) and it arrived via UPS on (11/15/99). The SixPack was only $10 and included the following: Caldera 2.3, TurboLinux 3.6, LinuxPro 5.4, S.u.S.E. 6.2, Slackware 7.0 and a Linux bumper sticker. http://www.linuxmall.com/shop/01060 These "cheap" versions include only the CD's whereas with the store bought versions, you'd get a nice manual...but then again, you wouldn't get a manual with the download either. If you live near a Sam's Club, they sell Macmillan's Linux Mandrake 6.5 for around $23-$25 and it includes 4 or 5 electronic Linux reference books (in Adobe PDF format). I got this also just for the ebooks because if I were to buy the paper version of the books, it would cost $150 or more. BTW, I don't work for any of the companies above.
