Just got modem setup and kppp working but when I run it I am not able to get to anything (netscape, etc) but it still says I am connected. I have heard that it has something to do with my nameservers, which should be setup in resolv.conf. When I am connected all I see in that file is: nameserver=YAST_ASK and it then says that if I want to change other preference I should do it in rc.config which is full of stuff, including three important looking vaiables: NAMESERVER, SEARCHLIST and a bool to indicate if I want resolv.conf to be created. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a nameserver and why would I need to setup one? any and all help will be greatly appreciatted. By the way, Actiontec is selling a PCI internal modem that works with Linux. 99. Thanks. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
