help! ERROR!

Hello I get the error when trying to install RHL 5.2:
(I get this error at the part where I'm normally supposed to choose
which partition program to use, and it says..)
"An error occured while reading parition table for block device HDA. 
The error was:: no such file or directory."

Do you know what is wrong?  I reformatted and havent tried installing it
from the CD, but when i went to MS-Dos Prompt and typed fdisk it says
"Error reading fixed disk."  AHh! How do I fix?
