Try installing the monitor with the XConfigurator (in setup) and choose custom
as choice of screen type.
If you still want to uninstall Linux then just boot up yoor DOS/Windows
partition, run fdisk and remove the linux partition(s) and replace it with a
DOS one. Then format the new partition and the type 'fdisk /mbr' in the dos
prompt to get rid of LILO.
Or start fdisk in linux and remove and replace the partition(s) there there
and then just boot DOS and format the new drive and type 'fdisk /mbr'

Hope I've helped you, but if you really want to get good at Linux you mustn't
give up that easily.
