newbie question about newwork

Hi All,

I am new on linux.

when I install Red Hat 5.2 , I skiped the network setting. then I set
IP etc. to eth0.
and the problem:
1) ping 127.0.0.1 is OK
2) ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx other machine on the LAN, I get error like
Network Unreachable...

question:
1) I do not think the network card dr. has been installed because I did
skip the network When I install, How can I install network card after
the OP is installed.(I can not find a way in netcfg)
2) what could be wrong if not 1)
