The following is what I've found to work on all of the Win95/Linux systems that I've built... which is over 100 machines. 1). do an fdisk using the Win95 boot disk and create a partition that Win95 will boot from. i.e. if you have a 1.2 or larger hard drive do the following: a). Create a partition of 600 meg for dos and save that partition and reboot. b). format that partition using dos c). ensuring that you can get to the cdrom go to drive D: and run setup. d). install Win95 with your choices. e). once installation of Win95 is completed printers etc. if your using RedHat just place the cd in to the cdrom and go to drive D: D: CD \DOSUTILS AUTOBOOT f). then use the disk druid to create the linux partitions ***WARNING*** do not delete your Win95 partition just add the new partions and swap partition for linux g). make your installations choices and format those partitions h). donot make a boot disk: answer no to that, then create the LILO boot on the MBR, i.e. MASTER BOOT RECORD. i). answer either, at least 30 seconds to wait before booting to linux or as I do tell it to wait forever until I make a selection. and then you have completed your install and Win95 is happy because you haven't taken any disk space away from like you would if you used the FIPS software. ****NOTE**** if you are using Slackware do the same thing except you'll have to boot with the disks you have created from the CD under BOOTDSKS.144 or BOOTDSKS.122 I do this on a reqular basis do to the fact most companies DONOT want to pay the price for all the user licenses for NT, then I install SAMBA, which makes Linux look like an NT server. Just that all the E-Mail, News, File & Print, Web services are FREE to the company because it comes with LINUX and the access it at least as fast if not faster... Take care, Don...
