G'day, can anyone help me fix up my stuff up in my first time installation? My setup is Intel BX440 motherboard 32xcdrom 64 ram 4.3gig on hard drive windows 98 on c drive created 500mb d drive for linux as dev/hda5 created 128mb e drive for linux swap as dev/hda6 During the Red hat 5 EZstart installation I created the above partitions using druid and silly me not knowing about any of the acronyms of the software to install, took the big step to install everything!. As it was installing I got errors mainly of course that hda5 (500mb)had no more space!, I was able to continue with pressing ok to these errors. Then I got to the boot loader installation i think it was called lilo part of the installation and got another error, I assume this error again was that it could not copy the files due to no space left. I couldnot bypass or get out of this error so had to turnoff the computer. Some Howto notes indicates that I should use linload.exe zimage root=/dev/hda5 ro to start, however I didnot have linload nor zimage on the cd so instead used loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hda5 ro it did its loading only to stop with the following errors:- "WARNING Your etc/fstab does not contain the fsck passno field" I assume this was a file that was not copy as I ran out of space, I am correct? Futher errors was:- "Whilst parallelizing fsck version 1.10 the superblock could not be read and does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else) then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternative superblock." What does this mean, was the file system corrupted when I had to turn off the computer? How can I uncorrupt it and redo the installation. Did I do any damage using loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hda5 ro instead of linload zimage Where can I get a copy of linload and zimage, if thats what I need? As you can see I am only beginner when it comes to linux, so what software should I select for software modules to install and also automatic startup. Also what size should my linux partition be? I want to keep win98 in drive c and linux on another drive say d and the linux swap on e yet currently the corrupt partitions do not show up under win98. Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanking you. David B
