I have some questions on Linux, its growing popularity and on the
recommendation of friends has made me think about giving it a go. I have had
a computer for awhile now, and I have never had anything but windows, I am
keen to try this system, but am not willing to sacrifice my current one only
to be disapointed, so here are my questions.

1. Is linux user friendly? One thing about windows is that it is designed
for people who want a user friendly interface, so that is a big question
that I would like answered.
2. How much work needs to be done until I can be happy with Linux?i.e how
much configuring is there?
3. Is it worth it? I have no real problems with my current system but would
like to try Linux.
4.How does the Internet run on Linux?

Anyone who could answer these questions I would be most grateful.

Alright if you are going to go out and try Linux, and want the easy
yet sure way of getting it installed without damaging your existing
win system. I would say go out and get either Corel Linux 1.1 or get
WinLinux, which will
allow you to install it through windows. You could get the download
version of Corel Linux 1.1 free from corel at linux.corel.com

OK, now concerning ease of use. Corel is making huge strives in
getting Linux more user friendly. And it is to an extent. However,
please note that if you decide to install linux, please keep in mind
that linux is basically unix, which is not at all meant to be user
friendly.

While using corel, There is a minimal amount of configuration before
you can get linux to boot into X windows.

To close let me tell you this, Linux is a robust, powerful, and
performance based OS. It is not intended to be 100 % user friendly as
other alternative Operating systems. However, because of this it is
extremely reliable, and will pretty much never crash. So if you ask
me if i should stick with the alternatives or go on to Linux, then i
would tell you to ask yourself how much do you like to see the same
old perthetic interface, and how often can you bare to see blue
screens.

Plus hey its free.
