We all know that windows has its reign over the OS market. But like many great empires they all come to an end. for example the Aztecs, romans and the british empires were all great but there time must come. Windows charges ridiculously high prices for bug filled software. Linux is the answer to the abusive reign of windows. linux, still in its very early stages is the key to lower the prices and the monopoly of the OS market occupied by microsoft. We as linux users must spread the word and make it more user friendly than windows and more easily distributed than it already is. We must design drivers, programs and highly customizable GUI's for it. Compatibility is the key along with user friendlyness. Linux started by the posting on newsgroups now the advancements can be made as we advance linux into a new era and make it the next king of the OS market. This message needs to be posted everywhere and displayed everywhere possible. Be loyal to linux and do not be taken for a sucker by microsoft. If you are interested in this new movement sweeping the computer world. U can help by writing drivers, programs etc If u are an experienced or a begginer to linux we can still use your help. Drivers maybe, but any more user friendly and Linux will become Windows, the intensity of windows graphical interface, code obesity and profit driven shortcuts in development are it's downfall and Linux developers should stay well away from these. I run Caldera and win98, win only for compatibility, if anyone is interested. But hey I'm only 15 so go easy on me... robvdp@earthling.net <mth@iprimus.com.au> > We all know that windows has its reign over the OS market. > > But like many great empires they all come to an end. > for example the Aztecs, romans and the british empires were all great but > there time must come. > > Windows charges ridiculously high prices for bug filled software. I think you are correct. However, the basic model of Windows vs Linux is fundamentally different. Windows source code is not available free (as far as I know). The power users, I assume like youself, will still be able to get under the hood of Linux and tweak it. If there is anything that you don't like about your Linux system you have the option to fix it. In windows if you don't like something you are basically S.O.L. F.Y.I. I run Redhat 6.0 and Win98, Win only for compatibiliy, and I'm old!! around 40!! Go easy on me, I'm brittle... :o) "robvdp" <robvdp@earthling.net> wrote: >Drivers maybe, but any more user friendly and Linux will become Windows, the >intensity of windows graphical interface, code obesity and profit driven >shortcuts in development are it's downfall and Linux developers should stay >well away from these. Although the code of windows is rather large Linux code is very different and will never be as resource hogging as windows will. Its code is based on an entirely different and much more efficient system than windows. Although Linux will be approximately 20 percent larger with each version released with the current to date technology will run Linux as easily then, in the near future, as it runs on a 100 mhz machine now. Linux will always have its distinct advantages to windows. The graphical interface now is eqivalent to that of windows 95 and 98 in some cases i have seen. IT RUNS 10 THOUSAND TIMES BETTER!!!! Rob i think that u need to understand the Linux code frst before u make any harsh Judgments. The concept of linux is much better and it will prevail. No offense:)
