Hi folks, I would like to ask to all the people who are brilliants about linux management. You know, I MUST to convert a linux floppy disk to a MS-DOS floppy disk. Actually I just need to convert all files contained in. I wonder if exist any command or utility inside linux environment that can help me. Please anwer me asap. Thanks in advance Xavi. Underneath linux, mount the floppy, and then copy all the stuff from the floppy into a particular directory on the linux filesystem. Now put in a regular DOS formatted floppy, mount it into the filesystem, you may need to specify to the mount command that the type of this filesystem is -f msdos, then you can copy the file from the directory to the mount point. After this you can dismount the floppy, and the files will be flushed onto the disk at that stage. You must remember to dismount the floppy before you remove it, because if you don't then the files will not be written onto the disk. Later Graham graham@daveney.matra.com.au

Why can't you do:
[put the linux floppy in]
$ mkdir /tmp/blah
$ mount -t e2fs[1] /dev/fd0 /floppy[2]
[cp files from /floppy to /tmp/blah]
$ umount /dev/fd0
[switch disks]
$ mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /floppy
[mv files from /tmp/blah to /floppy]
$ umount /dev/fd0
$ rmdir /tmp/blah
?

Second unmount the linux floppy and insert an MS-DOS formatted floppy. Mount the msdos floppy by typeing mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /some_mount_point Third copy the files from your temporary directory to the msdos floppy Regards John Gluck
