Certification courses Sydney Australia

Hello,

I live in Sydney, Australia and I would like to do some MS + Novell
certification courses, basically to qualify for a job. I prefer
instructor-led rather than A/V or web based learning. Excom seem to
have a good web site - but are they really instructor-led or more A/V
based. They also state that "EXCOM Education guarantees you a job in
IT within 4 months of completing the IT Career Builder Course".

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Leonard Matherson

The only people I know who ACTUALLY get you work after training is computer
power, they still around? Well they at least get you the fee's back you pay
them. I know 4 people who did training there, all still working today at the
same jobs CP got them. That was 4 years ago though.

Education Institutions now dangle carrots to attract idiots.
One carrot that is very successful - is a job.

Education is a business.
The qn is - are you an idiot ?

hey there.. again i got nothin against excom.. i went to their "IT Express"
Seminar and found out to be totally useless.. in their standard package, you
get MCP (70-210,70-270) A+ and some helpdesk BS.. and now you tell me, how
the hell you are going to get into market with that kind of qualifications!
there has to be some insider trading between the company and excom. when i
say contract jobs, i mean jobs that last only for 2 or 3 months, does it
really going to help you to get your money you wasted on their courses? i'm
very sure the answer is no.. sure they also have some people working
full-time, but they never mention nowhere, not that i know of, that they
will gurantee a FULL-TIME job!!
ok now to their deluxe package, they teach CNA and MCSA.. now i have done
MCSA in 2 1/2 months and my money went on books.. you would say MCSA is
enough? again the answer is NO! go and look at the jobs that are coming out,
MCSE is first requiremnet.. and i personally think you dont learn that much
in MCSA.. you need to do those design exams..

so how the hell can you get a decent job with that little knowledge? i dont
want to you give a wrong impression of excom to you.. just be sure you are
spending money wisely..

excom charges around 19G to do MCSA (not sure whether it is MCSE/MCSA) along
with a+ and some helpdesk crap

Industry certs are a joke. The whole idea is just an easy way to make money.
MS make money on Software, then they make money teach you how to use the
software, then they make money on the books you have to buy, then they make
money again because you have to keep coming back to update your cert.

wat can you do when every single job you look need experience + cert?

we all know MS is making money, hey they cant let go everything for cheap,
they r there to make money too!

i personally think certs provide you with in-depth knowledge of how
particular product works.. these are type of material is not usually covered
in college degrees..
ofcourse, degree plays a vital role in long-term, but it is not just enough
to show that you are a professinal these days.. degree and certs put you
ahead in a crowd filled with so-called *professinals*

it is your own choice whether or not to do certs/upgrade your cert... i know
some company's beleive in what you say you are capable of, but these days it
is no longer enough.. you need certs + hands-on experience + interpersonal
skills!!

yes there could be five ways to solve the problem.. but you have to take
into account of *real world* time spent on solving those problems.. by
doing certs, for instance with MS, you get to know the more quick and
cost-effective solution for your problem.. that is why people hire certified
people, than to those who claim they can solve anything..

Haha what a crock of shit. You've been reading too much MS marketing
material.

Back in the 1980's I had the misfortune to have to interview
"programmers" who had been "trained" by CPG, and let loose on the world
(nowadays their resumes don't make it through the door)...

The major problem with them was the the CPG "trainers" had told them
that 'C' was a dialect of COBOL...

...and that there was no "real" difference between the various
programming languages...

...and that basic ops skills for OS/390 were all that was needed to
administer VMS, UNIX, MPE, AOS-VS, etecetera, systems...

The sad thing was that it wasn't the fault of the people who had payed
their money to CPG, they didn't know any better, I just felt like I
saying to them, "Well, CPG is the broker, and you are the brokee."

They always looked like a con to me, but a lot of good, reliable
mainframe operators had been there... But then, by the time I saw them
they'd been out in the real world from quite a few years...

	Cheers,
		Gary	B-)
