hi, I have an application in cppbuilder4 for table with 12 to 20 columns with thousands of rows of data. however am having a problem either in paradox 7 that am currently using (or the pegraphs graphing software which I can't find anything about thru altavista) whereby my program just hangs and I have to reset it with ctrl-alt-del. what is the best database/graphing software combination for cppbuilder4 in your experience? what is the best database/graphing software especially for very large databases? what are cost effective alternatives I should consider?

Hi John, Add a news group server called cnews.corel.com. In there you'll find several Paradox specific newsgroups and I'm sure you'll be able to find the answer there! --P johnti wrote: > Help! this is getting urgent and any additional help would be awesome. > > johnti wrote: > > > hi, I have an application in cppbuilder4 for table with 12 to 20 columns > > with thousands of rows of data. however am having a problem either in > > paradox 7 that am currently using (or the pegraphs graphing software > > which I can't find anything about thru altavista) whereby my program > > just hangs and I have to reset it with ctrl-alt-del. > > what is the best database/graphing software combination for cppbuilder4 > > in your experience? > > what is the best database/graphing software especially for very large > > databases? > > what are cost effective alternatives I should consider?

You're not having much luck because it's almost impossible to answer questions like "my application just hangs and I have to reset it". You need to do some more work debugging :-) Try to narrow down where the code is hanging and post a small sample. Try selectively removing sections of code to identify whic section causes the problem. The amount of data you're dealing with doesn't sound like an awful lot, so that probably isn't an issue. > > hi, I have an application in cppbuilder4 for table with 12 to 20 columns > > with thousands of rows of data. however am having a problem either in > > paradox 7 that am currently using (or the pegraphs graphing software > > which I can't find anything about thru altavista) whereby my program > > just hangs and I have to reset it with ctrl-alt-del. > > what is the best database/graphing software combination for cppbuilder4 > > in your experience? > > what is the best database/graphing software especially for very large > > databases? > > what are cost effective alternatives I should consider? I've used the TeeChart components that are supplied with BCB and have been quite happy with them. You don't get much more cost-effective than that! -- Jeremy Collins
