Hi, We are looking for a database platform to replace Paradox. Our existing application uses Paradox which often gets corrupt indexes and databases. We are thinking of going to Oracle or Raima's Velocys or even Access with SQL server. As you can imagine we are unsure of which way to turn. The bottom line is we want a scalable sturdy platform. An added bonus is to be able to easily convert our existing code and databases for use with the new platform. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated. Even any direction on where to get more help would be great. Thanks in advance Gabriele gabs@earthlink.net

Hello, I am just starting with it myself, but take a look at MySQL at http://www.tcx.se/ . There is a free Delphi Interface component, TMySql available. I have also used this a little and so far no complaints. The database is fast, and you can set up local or remote connections to the DB via the internet. The interface to the DB does not have to go through ODBC, but there is an ODBC driver available. HTH, Barry. "D.
