Hi All, I'm performing a select statement on a database and the field that I am querying on contains a numeric value in the billions, and my output is displayed in scientific format. select f_docnumber from doctaba The return output is: 3.000E+09 3.000E+09 3.000E+09 I want to view the number which would be 3000002254 3000002255 3000002256 What is the select condition I need to use in order to view the number how I want. I am stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me at iiidana@ix.netcom.com or post to the group. Thanks in advance, Chris Reddy

Handling of large floating values may differ by database vendor. With DB2 Universal Database 5.2, I created such a table as: db2 create table bignumb (col1 float(10)) and selected the large value using the BIGINT function: db2 select bigint(col1) from bignumb I could also created it with BIGINT: db2 create table bignumb (col1 bigint) Chris Reddy wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm performing a select statement on a database and the field that I am > querying on contains a numeric value in the billions, and my output is > displayed in scientific format. > > select f_docnumber from doctaba > > The return output is: > > 3.000E+09 > 3.000E+09 > 3.000E+09 > > I want to view the number which would be > 3000002254 > 3000002255 > 3000002256 > > What is the select condition I need to use in order to view the number how I > want. > > I am stumped. > > Any help would be greatly appreciated. > > You can e-mail me at iiidana@ix.netcom.com or post to the group. > > Thanks in advance, > > Chris Reddy
