Hi, I have the same problem down here in the Tampa Bay area. I have a Zoom 56k
ext. dual mode modem what connectes only at 26.4k. The phone company says that
I have "clean" lines and that I am only 2.7 miles from the nearest switching
station (i was told that it should be less than 3.5 mile). Have tried many
different init. strings w/o success.
