It's possible that that's the best your phone line can do. However, here's
something that might help. I am also using an LT WinModem and was ALWAYS
connecting at 24,600. Adding the modem settting S38=0 to suppress K56 Flex
and force the modem to start negotiating at V90 is now consistently giving
me connect speeds of 37,333 or better. (I also have an impaired phone line
and don't expect a lot better than this.)

The lastest firmware revision is 5.29 available at
http://www.multiwave.com/support/download.htm That also helped for me.

(Also, I have found that using the -V90 parameter to force higher speeds
often results in a faster reliable connection than the modem negotiates. I
believer that even with version 5.29, there is still room for serious
improvment in the firmware for this modem.)

Whether this helps you will depend on your particular phone line and
situation. I'd be interested to know if it does.

Good luck
Greg
