🚀 go-pugleaf

I recently bought a Sporster Voice modem and everything works fine, but
when I use the speakerphone, the person i'm talking to can not hear me
well at all (low microphone gain on my modem microphone).  I'm using a
mac performa 6214.  

I called USR, and they said that many of the original microphones were
not very good, so they agreed to replace mine, but upon sending my modem
away (for 3 weeks when it was only supposed to take 10 days.  I only got
my modem back after calling and complaining), I get another modem back
with a different serial number that still doesn't work.  

The software fix for this was to increase the mic gain in "Megaphone" to
255, but I did that also, and it doesn't help...

PLEASE HELP ME! 
 USR, as everyone probably knows, is of little help, and you must call
their long-distance number on your own time and then wait on hold for
about 30 minutes each time before you get to talk to someone! 

any suggestions?
any comments on the global village voice modem and software? (I may want
to try to get my money back for the URS)
