Re: Looking for ATX Case and Power Supply

It is my understanding that a case conforming to the ATX standard will
support soft-switch so long as the motherboard installed is capable of
this feature. I have built two ATX systems in the past year, a Tyan
1672 in an InWin midtower ATX case and an Abit AX5 in a Biostar midtower
ATX case. The Tyan board does not support the soft-switch but the Abit
does. (I'm getting to the point) The Biostar case has an ATX power
supply (250w) but it has the old style, loud clicking, heavy-duty
AT-type power switch and even with this switch (when wired properly) the
system will power off completely with a Win95 shutdown. It will also
power on with the next push of the button. I must say as well I like
both cases, but I would probably get the Biostar again because of its
greater expandability(lots of drive bays for mid-tower). The InWin case
has the removable motherboard chassis, but with the biostar case, there
really is no need for it since the motherboard is completely
unobstructed when installed in the case.
